• An application and Adoption/Caregiver Contract, available below, by fax, mail, or email.
• Include a $25 non-refundable application fee.
• Photos are required for the process.

• Adopters must be over 18 years old.
• Adopters must have sufficient horse care knowledge to adopt.
• Decisions are based on the applicant's horse knowledge, honesty, safety of the facility, references (non relative), and photographs.
• Once approved, we will begin profiling a list of horses we think will suit your desire.

• If you plan to board your horse a lien release must be signed by the boarding facility. It can be accessed below, faxed or mailed to you.
• Shipping is your responsibility.
• SRF asks for an adoption donation which varies on the horse. Generally this is between $350-$750.
• An adoption donation is not expected for "Pasture Mates" or “Companion” horses.
• Part of the agreement is your willingness to comply with having your veterinarian complete the Veterinarian Follow -up Form which is mailed to you semi-annually at the time of spring and fall inoculations. Veterinarians do not charge extra to complete this form. This information helps us to assure each adopted horse is in a safe home.
• Horses adopted from SRF can never be bred, used for embryo transfer, raced, sold, used for commercial purposes, or given away. We are looking for lifetime homes. If for some unforeseen reason an adopter can no longer provide good care for the horse, the horse must be returned to SRF.
